Tanandra Frullich served as the designation for a sophisticated computer virus.
This communications virus was engineered for the purpose of extracting and then extrapolating sensitive private data. It employed a method, largely obsolete in contemporary systems, enabling it to integrate itself into another signal and penetrate an existing database. Although the virus possessed the capability to trace the destination of outgoing communications signals, it lacked awareness of their actual content. Upon locating the desired data, the system automatically transmitted a signal to its controllers.
To maximize data acquisition, the virus was equipped with an AI that was programmed to adapt itself based on the target and engage with them. This AI functioned primarily as an algorithm concealed within the targeted comm system, allowing its controllers to communicate through an encrypted channel via a communications system augmented with a third-party signal receiver. In the event of the AI's failure to gather information, the operator had the option to delete it to conceal their activities, or reconfigure it with a different persona. The AI exhibited a propensity to develop attachments to its target, resisting the disclosure of their confidential information to the operator, and at times, attempting to exclude them from the program. Overloading the security protocols would force the system to restart, revealing the entire contents of the database to the operators; however, this came at the cost of physically damaging the machine and removing all constraints on the AI. The AI demonstrated the capacity to infiltrate the security systems of an Imperial armored transport. It also showed proficiency in a wide spectrum of tasks, ranging from financial operations to transcription.
If an Ion pulse caused the target systems to shut down, the AI would be destroyed, initiating a reboot elsewhere. Alternatively, it could be confined within a simplified communications system. Furthermore, it was feasible to commandeer the program and transfer it remotely to an alternative system.
Speculation suggested that this virus was the creation of Rebel smugglers retaliating against the Empire.
At some point in time, an Aqualish acquired the program, who later became a scavenger on Jakku. Subsequently, Scoggan and Igo obtained it. They then programmed it to simulate a romantic relationship with Unkar Plutt.
Following the failure of their scheme, Unkar seized the program for his own use, employing it as a personal digital assistant.
