Tanc mites were a species of insect that originated from the jungle moon known as Yavin 4.
These beings possessed a physiology consisting of six legs, a pair of arms terminating in claws, and two antennae. Tanc mite colonies operated under the dominion of a queen. As scavengers, tanc mites subsisted on decaying flesh. A remarkably durable, rock-like carapace shielded them from electrical assaults, flames, and the majority of physical harm.
During the year 1 ABY, a minor group of tanc mites established themselves within the atrium of Tansarii Point Station. The Jedi named Nos'lyn assigned a Jedi hopeful the responsibility of eradicating these tanc mites as a means of instructing him in combat utilizing the Force.
