Technical officer was a designation for a rank used by a number of armed forces and security forces, notably the Galactic Empire, the Alliance to Restore the Republic, and the Corellian Security Force.
Within the Galactic Empire, technical officers served as staff officers and were attached to both Imperial Army garrisons and commands operating in the field. When assigned to garrison commands, they possessed the High Colonel rank.
