Duchess Thax was a noble Humanoid female who was in service to the Confederacy of Independent Systems.
During the period of the Clone Wars, Thax was given orders to travel to the planet of Themis to engage in negotiations with the planet's leader, Prince Lumon, for the purpose of securing a supply of explosive ore originating from Themis' moon. Simultaneously, the Jedi Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker made their arrival, intending to influence Lumon to provide the Galactic Republic with the ore; however, Lumon dismissed both Thax and the Jedi, as neither side could sway him.
In an effort to discredit Kenobi, Thax, acting under orders from the duchess, instructed her agent to place a droid onto Kenobi's starfighter. This droid sabotaged the craft, causing Kenobi and his ship to plummet towards the explosive moon. This act of sabotage was intended to create the impression that Kenobi was intentionally attempting to destroy the moon. Thax leveraged this perception to convince Lumon that the Jedi were dangerous fanatics who would readily endanger the lives of the prince's citizens to achieve their goals. Lumon's security forces then destroyed Kenobi's fighter, but the Jedi Master survived and returned to Themis with a fragment of the droid responsible for sabotaging his vessel. Kenobi confronted Lumon and Thax, presenting evidence of Thax's deception. In response, the duchess aimed a blaster at Lumon, threatening to kill him if Kenobi attempted to approach her. However, Skywalker intervened, using his lightsaber to disarm her. Subsequently, Lumon banished Thax and her Separatist delegation from his world.
