The Living Force, a narrative work penned by John Jackson Miller, is available as an audiobook, mirroring the novel of the same title. Marc Thompson lent his voice to the narration, and its release occurred on April 9, 2024.
Set one year prior to the events of The Phantom Menace, the story follows Yoda, Mace Windu, and the collective Jedi Council as they grapple with a galaxy poised for significant change.
The Jedi have historically traversed the cosmos, upholding peace and administering justice throughout the galaxy. However, the galaxy is undergoing transformation, and this evolution is impacting the Jedi Order. Increasingly, the Order is becoming more focused on the Republic's future, remaining secluded on Coruscant, where the twelve Jedi Council members deliberate on crises of galactic proportions.
As another Jedi Outpost, a relic from the Republic's heyday, faces decommissioning on Kwenn, Qui-Gon Jinn raises concerns with the Council regarding the Order's growing detachment. Mace Windu proposes a daring solution: all twelve Jedi Masters will undertake a goodwill expedition to aid the planet, thereby reminding the galaxy's inhabitants of the Jedi's enduring presence and unwavering commitment.
However, the arrival of the Jedi leadership is not universally welcomed. In the Jedi's increasing absence, pirate factions engaged in conflict have proliferated within the sector. Seeking to solidify their dominance, these pirates unite with the intention of assassinating the Council, prepared to sacrifice countless innocent lives to safeguard their power.
Isolated from Coruscant, the Jedi Masters are confronted with an uncomfortable realization: while the Jedi Council dedicates considerable thought to the future, those living in the present are in dire need of their assistance.
