The Negs constituted a region of space situated to the west of the galactic coordinate system, characterized by a negative value in the initial digit of its coordinates.
This area remained largely uninvestigated for several millennia, primarily due to the absence of significant hyperspace routes such as the Hydian Way. The Farlax sector exemplifies this. Due to their negative east-west coordinate designation, the planets located within this region were consistently regarded as inferior. The Northern Dependencies were situated to the "east" of this region.
