This eBook novella, The New Jedi Order: Ylesia, is part of the New Jedi Order series. It was written by Walter Jon Williams and released in 2002. The story takes place concurrently with Williams's novel The New Jedi Order: Destiny's Way, specifically in the timeframe between chapters 21 and 22 of that novel.
Because of an error made by LucasBooks and Del Rey, many readers anticipated that Ylesia would be included in the mass market paperback edition of Destiny's Way. Consequently, Ylesia was made available as a free download on StarWars.com beginning on August 26, 2003.
A PRIME TARGET
Jedi Knight Kyp Durron views the planet Ylesia in this way, as it is the central location for the Peace Brigade. This group of betrayers aims to undermine the New Republic's war efforts and speed up the Yuuzhan Vong's victory. Kyp suggests a rapid and powerful strike to eliminate the Brigade's ability to attack and to deter others from betraying the New Republic. However, Jacen Solo, still affected by his Yuuzhan Vong imprisonment, proposes a different approach: a bold operation to seize the Brigade's leaders in Ylesia's capital, including their new President, Thrackan Sal-Solo, who is the cousin of Jacen and his twin sister, Jaina.
Unbeknownst to both the Jedi and the New Republic, the Yuuzhan Vong's Supreme Overlord Shimrra has sent reinforcements to Ylesia. Instead of a quick and precise attack, Jaina, Jacen, Kyp, and their allies are about to face a fierce fight for their lives, with the odds heavily against them and time running short.
