Plot summary

A year before the Battle of Geonosis, on the planet Kuat, a solitary figure, concealed by a cloak, enters a small settlement. When Larbo, the leader of the settlers, comes out to investigate, young Boba Fett throws a thermal detonator and runs into one of the tents. While chaos erupts, Jango Fett appears to eliminate the scattered settlers. As two armed men approach, a blade extends from his gauntlet and he seemingly cuts their throats. He then proceeds to hunt down the remaining colonists.

Larbo discovers Boba hiding in the corner of his tent and holds him at gunpoint, questioning him. He is shocked to discover that the young boy is the son of the bounty hunter. Jango, having completed the assassination of the remaining colonists, locates Boba and demands Larbo release him, cutting through the tent's fabric. Disgusted, Larbo questions what kind of man would use his own son as bait, to which Boba responds that "only a son can know his father's heart." Jango grabs Boba and throws a thermal detonator into the tent before escaping with the boy.

Jango and Boba depart the planet aboard the Slave I, where the bounty hunter confirms to Count Dooku that the mission has been successfully completed. The ruling families are now free to begin constructing factories for the Trade Federation and the Sith Lords' other allies.

During Boba's initial training exercise, he receives a crucial lesson: a warrior must control all emotions in order to achieve success.
