The Theran Listeners were a group of Oldtimer individuals with Force abilities, specifically a Force-sensitive cult, who inhabited the planet of Nam Chorios. These Therans established their cult due to the unique ability of the planet's intelligent and Force-attuned spook-crystals to communicate with them. Their primary objective revolved around ensuring that the droch, insects responsible for propagating the deadly Death Seed plague, remained confined to their world, as the violet radiation emitted by the planet's star had a weakening effect on these parasitic insects. The Theran Listeners possessed the capabilities of healing and precognition.
Following the conclusion of the Yuuzhan Vong War, Jacen Solo sought knowledge from this cult, acquiring some of their techniques, including the practice of Theran Force-listening. Despite contemplating a permanent commitment to the cult, Jacen ultimately chose not to join.
