Timbra Ott

Timbra Ott, a planet situated in the Kathol Outback at the terminus of the Galtea Run, was the world in question.

History

Initially, Timbra Ott was established as a companion colony to Gandle Ott, and its suitability for habitation was highly regarded. Nevertheless, sometime after the colony's founding, seismic activity fractured the planet's mantle, and subsequent tsunamis devastated the settlements along the coast. The colony's recovery was thwarted, leading the Kal'Shebbol government to repurpose the planet as a penal colony during the waning years of the Galactic Republic. Inmates were forced to work in order to restore the planet's infrastructure to a point where it would be suitable for resettlement, but the rise of the Galactic Empire brought an end to these efforts. Upon entering the Kathol sector, the Empire deserted the colony, leaving the prisoners stranded.

Following this abandonment, widespread unrest occurred, resulting in numerous convict deaths until leaders emerged to restore order and devise strategies for self-reliance. The plan proved effective, and Timbra Ott commenced trade relations with other planets in the sector. However, much of this commerce was illicit, with smugglers openly engaging in their activities on the planet. Local authorities intervened to safeguard the inhabitants of Timbra Ott. By 8 ABY, a growing segment of the population advocated for the expulsion of smugglers and the establishment of a more law-abiding society, as the planet still faced a stigma due to its criminal past. The younger generation of the planet considered this association unjust, as two generations had been born since the last convict transport arrived by 8 ABY.
