Tom Stewart Baker, an English actor, came into the world on January 20, 1934. He is most widely recognized for his portrayal of the Fourth Doctor in the science fiction program Doctor Who, a role he held from 1974 until 1981. Furthermore, he lends his voice to Bendu during the third season of Star Wars Rebels. Following David Tennant, who played Huyang in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, and Peter Cushing, who played Wilhuff Tarkin in Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope, he is the third actor to have played the Doctor to also appear in a Star Wars production.
Because the studio wanted to maintain secrecy, only executive producer Dave Filoni shared information about the character Baker was voicing. In giving voice to Bendu, who was characterized as a "life force," Baker relied on his own religious background ("believing in angels, devils, divine forces and other worlds") and mentally embraced all the ideas from his history.
