The Trest, situated within the airborne settlement known as Cloud City, was a prominent casino. It stood as one of the three most significant casinos in the city, alongside the Royal Casino and the Pair O'Dice. Its gambling tables drew in a diverse clientele, including affluent tourists, criminals, and even ordinary citizens driven to desperation by the oppressive Galactic Empire. The Trest saw patrons from numerous species, such as Anxs, Biths, Dugs, Humans, Ithorians, Mon Calamari, Rodians, Snivvians, Sullustans, Toydarians, Trandoshans, Twi'leks, and even Jawas. Those who came to gamble could partake of a wide array of food and beverages, including the Colt 45, a favorite of the businessman Barpotomous Drebble.
The Trest was more than just a gambling hall; it was an elaborate establishment that featured restaurants and live entertainment. The primary gambling area housed numerous tables and a bar that served both gamblers and other patrons. A central column and the bar itself were adorned with boarded facing. The room was bathed in an overall bluish light, complemented by yellow illumination from two distinct types of fixtures. One type of fixture was positioned above each table, providing light for gaming or dining. The other was designed with a line-dot pattern, running along all the walls, above the bar, and along the stair risers. Private rooms, such as the Ecclessis Figg Room, mirrored this design, albeit with a purple hue. The corridors connecting the rooms were white and reflected the style of Cloud City's public spaces.
One year after the Battle of Yavin, the skilled gambler Lando Calrissian paid a visit to the Trest, where he triumphed in a game of sabacc against Drebble. Shortly thereafter, Calrissian received an invitation to the casino's Ecclessis Figg Room to compete against Dominic Raynor, the Baron Administrator of Cloud City. In their initial contest, Raynor won Calrissian's shuttle, the Cobra. However, in the subsequent rematch, Calrissian emerged victorious, claiming ownership of Cloud City itself.
The Trest casino was initially detailed in the first edition of West End Games' roleplaying game sourcebook, Galaxy Guide 2: Yavin and Bespin, published in 1989 and authored by Jonatha Ariadne Caspian.
