The Cobra was a starship once piloted by Lando Calrissian. The acquisition of this vessel was something Calrissian enjoyed recounting, though he always had trouble deciding on his favorite version of the story.
This spacecraft began its life as a Mu-2 long range shuttle, a product of the Sienar Fleet Systems manufacturing company. It had been modified from its original state.

In the year 1 ABY, Calrissian risked the ship as part of a bet against Baron Administrator Dominic Raynor during a game of sabacc. He lost the Cobra due to Barpotomous Drebble's cheating, but he later managed to win it back. The Cobra's reputation at the time was such that Raynor specifically requested it when Lando suggested wagering a ship during their rematch.
Later, Calrissian piloted the ship away from Bespin while pretending to be dead. This was a ruse to uncover a plot to assassinate him. Following this, he journeyed to the Yucrales sector and the planet of Quilken, pursued by the bounty hunter known as Thune.
Almost three years afterwards, Calrissian, accompanied by Chewbacca, used the Cobra to travel to Arcan IV. Their mission was to locate Han Solo after the smuggler had been captured by Boba Fett on Cloud City.
Soon after the Battle of Endor, Calrissian utilized the Cobra for diplomatic assignments to both Drogheda and Keyorin.
He subsequently reunited with Solo and Chewbacca on Kashyyyk during an early phase of the Nagai–Tof War. After the heroes successfully thwarted a slaving operation led by the Nagai commander Ozrei "Knife" N'takkilomandrife, the Nagai absconded with the Cobra. The ship was eventually recovered after Knife's capture on Kabray.
Calrissian and Chewbacca once again collaborated to pilot the Cobra on a mission to Stenos. Their objective was to recover the Dancing Goddess from Barpotomous Drebble. Subsequently, they delivered it to Godo in order to save the natives from the Godoan's disease.
During the Second Battle of Endor, which marked the beginning of the Nagai-Tof War, Calrissian piloted the Cobra under the callsign Gold Leader.
Later, Calrissian and Luke Skywalker journeyed to Iskalon aboard the Cobra. Their purpose was to inform the Iskalonian people about the death's death of Kiro.
