Tropos was known throughout the era of the Galactic Civil War as a woman who made those who disappointed her, along with their families, vanish without a trace. The Rodian smuggler named Faron engaged Willrow Hood, an employee at the tibanna gas mining facility of Cloud City, to transport a camtono filled with cargo to Tropos on the planet Batuu during 3 ABY. Faron also cautioned Hood about the repercussions of not fulfilling his agreement with Tropos, referencing her infamous history of causing people to disappear.
After a week passed, Faron, now aware of the camtono's actual worth, tried to reclaim it. The camtono's contents were damaged during the struggle, leading Hood to understand that he had let Tropos down. Later, while boarding a gunship with his coworker Bexley, the employee pleaded to be taken anywhere except Batuu, expressing a desire to be as distant from Tropos as possible.
The short story "Due on Batuu," penned by Rob Hart and featured in the 2020 anthology From a Certain Point of View: The Empire Strikes Back, included a reference to Tropos.
