Tualon Yaluna's Inquisitor lightsaber

The lightsaber wielded by Tualon Yaluna when he served within the Inquisitorius was a double-bladed spinning variant.

Specifications

This weapon was designed with a ringed emitter that could partially detach from the hilt. This unique design allowed both blades to spin rapidly without the user exerting any effort. This feature was likely implemented to both frighten enemies and provide a means of defense against direct attacks, which would be useful for a Jedi hunter such as an Inquisitor. However, this design also created a significant vulnerability: an opponent wielding a lightsaber could sever the emitter, splitting the weapon in two. This weakness was exploited by Kanan Jarrus during his final duel against the Grand Inquisitor on the Sovereign.

History

Darth Vader kills Tualon Yaluna with his own weapon.

After Jedi Knight Tualon Yaluna was captured by the newly established Galactic Empire and corrupted to the dark side of the Force, he received a new lightsaber. He used this weapon during training sessions with fellow Inquisitor Iskat Akaris and their master, the Sith Lord Darth Vader. Yaluna utilized this lightsaber on various missions as an Inquisitor, including one to Firrhana and the hunt for Eeth Koth. The final time he wielded the weapon was in combat against Darth Vader, who ultimately used the Force to kill Yaluna, employing his own lightsaber against him.

Behind the scenes

The initial concept art by Giuseppe Camuncoli for Yaluna's Inquisitor lightsaber depicted a standard split saber. However, it eventually evolved into the double-bladed spinning lightsaber commonly associated with Inquisitors, as shown in official depictions.
