A Tumanian pressure-ruby represented an exceptionally scarce gemstone, frequently exhibiting a bloodred hue, originating from the Tumani system located within the Hapes Cluster. Even a diminutive specimen of a Tumanian pressure-ruby could command a value easily reaching into the millions of credits.
Around 3.5 ABY, soon after the Battle of Hoth, the criminal enterprise identified as the Nezriti Organization requested an alliance with the influential Black Sun criminal syndicate, headed by the Falleen Prince Xizor. In an attempt to curry favor with Xizor, the Nezriti dispatched to the Black Sun's commander a small parcel containing an oval-shaped, and seemingly immaculate, bloodred Tumanian pressure-ruby. After a brief examination of the gem, Xizor indifferently cast the present onto his desk, unconcerned about the possibility of it ending up with the refuse, before announcing that he would deliberate on the Nezriti Organization's proposition.
The Tumanian pressure-ruby was featured in the 1996 novel Shadows of the Empire, penned by Steve Perry.
