The criminal syndicate known as the Nezriti Organization functioned throughout the era of the Galactic Civil War. Around 3.5 ABY, not long after the Battle of Hoth concluded, the Nezriti Organization dispatched a request for an alliance to Prince Xizor, the Underlord who controlled the influential Black Sun crime syndicate. The Nezriti's proposition included a present intended to gain Xizor's approval: a Tumanian pressure-ruby, an uncommon gemstone valued at several million credits with ease.
Mayth Duvel, an employee of Black Sun, hand-delivered the request within a small parcel to Xizor inside the prince's personal chambers. Xizor acknowledged the offering with a nod before carelessly throwing the gemstone onto his desk and ordering Duvel to relay to the Nezriti that he would give their request consideration.
The 1996 novel Shadows of the Empire, authored by Steve Perry, was the first instance in which the Nezriti Organization was referenced.
