Tumbledrive
The tumble hyperdrive, sometimes called a tumbledrive, represents an early form of hyperdrive technology. It was jointly engineered by the Devaronians and the Gossams around the year 27,000 BBY. Due to its inherent instability, this device facilitated hyperjumps that varied in both length and time, which is why it received its descriptive name. The Gossam Courivers utilized this drive specifically to discover the planetary location of Felucia.
Behind the scenes
The initial mention of the tumble hyperdrive is found within the pages of The Essential Atlas, a collaborative work by Jason Fry and Daniel Wallace. Wallace later shared on his blog that the concept was devised to offer a plausible explanation for the Gossams' colonization of Felucia prior to the widespread adoption of hyperdrive technology during the Republic era.
