Turbofans represented exceptionally sizable fans integrated into vehicle designs. A prominent example is the Infantry Support Platform, crafted by Uulshos Manufacturing and deployed by the Grand Army of the Galactic Republic throughout the Clone Wars, which featured a substantial turbofan situated at its back end. This fan, in conjunction with the vehicle's repulsors, enabled rapid and seamless movement across the combat zone.
The initial appearance of turbofans occurred in the 2005 prequel trilogy movie, Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith. Their formal recognition within the official Star Wars canon took place in the 2018 reference publication, Star Wars Encyclopedia of Starfighters and Other Vehicles, authored by Landry Q. Walker.
