During the time of the Galactic Civil War, the Twelve Tribes of T'Syriél represented a united group of tribes composed of the indigenous T'Syriél species on the planet Shiva IV. These tribes, who were the descendants of a distinguished warrior culture, had engaged in prolonged conflicts with the human Calian Confederacy for many generations. However, in 2 ABY, Demarch Kéral Longknife entered into the Concordat of Peace with Aron Peacebringer, a Warlord of the Calian people, and committed to uniting the tribes. Following the end of the fighting, the tribes experienced a decline in their martial prowess, and Longknife expressed sorrow over the diminishing combativeness of his people.
