The religion of the Tyia was observed by the Revwiens, a sentient species resembling plants that originated from the planet of Revyia. These beings held the light side of the Force in reverence and emphasized the importance of life and peace. The Revwiens were particularly drawn to the Tyia, making it their primary faith.
Despite some claims that this faith system arrived on the planet as recently as 30 BBY, Revwien Thuwistens had been observed throughout the galaxy for a significant period. These Thuwistens made it a point to share their beliefs with anyone willing to listen.
Palpatine, at one point, analyzed their techniques as part of his efforts to achieve complete command of the dark side.
In 19 BBY, the Tyia masters on Revyia were deeply troubled by the widespread deaths of numerous Jedi during the implementation of Order 66 by the Galactic Empire at the conclusion of the Clone Wars, an event they perceived through the Force. The commencement of the Great Jedi Purge led them to convene a meeting within a temple that had organically grown from the largest trees present on their world. Subsequently, they tasked their most skilled students with the mission of locating and assisting any surviving Jedi in any way they could. One such Revwien Tyia adept managed to find and confer with a Human Jedi.
The term Tyia originated from the Revwien word signifying "breath". They perceived the Force as an inherent aspect of all living beings. Tyia practitioners referred to the state of alignment with the Force as "Harmony," which was comparable to the light side of the Force. Conversely, when the Dark side of the Force was dominant, the Tyia would be in a state of Discord, and the adepts would strive to restore it to Harmony.
Adherents of Tyia acknowledged the inevitability of conflict but prioritized minimizing harm, often employing telekinesis to incapacitate opponents rather than resorting to lethal force.
Tyia was a religion deeply connected to the light side of the Force. It emphasized that the values of peace and the sanctity of all life should be paramount. Its adherents were expected to conduct themselves with integrity in both thought and action.
Tyia practitioners were identified as Thuwisten, a designation derived from the core principle of Tyia, which advocates for seeking "personal harmony with one's own Tyia so that other Tyia forces may join to form a bond-circle, a joining of spirits called 'Thuwisten', complete in their utter harmony." Indeed, Thuwisten held the belief that self-reflection was crucial for comprehending the workings of the universe.
Force-sensitive individuals practicing Tyia were instructed to regulate their personal Force through ritual and contemplation. Their emphasis on their internal Force led to Thuwisten possessing a heightened awareness of the skill known to the Jedi as "Control." A Thuwisten found the application of the "Alter" ability to be a more challenging and prolonged endeavor compared to the Jedi. Nevertheless, numerous Thuwisten regarded the Jedi as genuine masters of the Tyia.
