Unidentified power droid (Jabba's Palace)
This EG-6 power droid could be found within Jabba's Palace circa 4 ABY. The droid resided in the palace owned by Jabba the Hutt during the arrival of C-3PO and R2-D2, who were there as part of the rescue mission for Han Solo. It emitted a painful squeal when 8D8, following the orders of its supervisory droid EV-9D9, pressed a scorching hot iron against the bottom of its feet.
Behind the scenes
During the making of Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi, this character, lacking a formal name, was referred to as the "Dustbin Droid," a name that also appeared in the Return of the Jedi Giant Collector's Compendium. A Topps trading card identified it as a "Dustbin Robot." Despite the common belief that Ewok performer Kiran Shah played the power droid, production call sheets credit actress Carol Read as "Dustbin Droid," whereas Shah was credited for "Droid (SFX)". In the Jabba's Palace stage of Star Wars: Battlefront II, the droid's screams are audible.
