An Elomin led a task force composed of capital ships and starfighters, serving the New Republic Military during the Galactic Civil War. In the year 9 ABY, this Elomin and his task force were stationed in the Obroa-skai system as part of the New Republic's diplomatic initiative to persuade the planet of Obroa-skai to join their ranks. During this deployment, Imperial scout ships launched an attempted intelligence raid targeting the planet's extensive library facilities. The Elomin commander gave the order for his task force to intercept and pursue, driving the Imperial intruders into hyperspace. Upon exiting realspace, the Elomin commander discovered his forces facing an Imperial II-class Star Destroyer, the Chimaera. Despite the task force's numerical advantage, the New Republic unit met its destruction when the Chimaera's commander, Grand Admiral Thrawn, executed a Marg Sabl closure maneuver against them. The Elomin commander, his logical mind unable to effectively counter the tactic's unpredictable attack pattern, was killed during the ensuing battle.

This Elomin served as an officer in the New Republic Military, commanding a task force that included four Assault Frigate Mark Is and several wings of T-65 X-wing starfighters manufactured by Incom Corporation, all crewed by fellow Elomin. In the year 9 ABY, the aforementioned task force was on patrol within the Obroa-skai system as part of the New Republic's diplomatic endeavors to incorporate the planet of Obroa-skai into the Republic. During their time in the system, a small group of Imperial scout ships emerged from hyperspace and initiated an intelligence-gathering operation against Obroa-skai's vast library. The Elomin commander issued orders for his task force to intercept, prompting the Imperial scout ships to retreat back into hyperspace. The Elomin then commanded his ships to pursue, and prior to the task force entering hyperspace, a communication was dispatched to their New Republic superiors, informing them of the formation's actions.
Upon their return to realspace, the Elomin commander instructed his task force to arrange themselves in a symmetric cloud-vee formation as they pursued the scout ships toward their capital ship, the Imperial II-class Star Destroyer named Chimaera. The Republic force was more than adequate to engage a solitary Star Destroyer, so the Elomin commander decided to engage the Imperial vessel. As the task force advanced, the Chimaera's starfighter sentry line engaged the leading elements of the New Republic task force while the scout ships sought safety within the Star Destroyer; the sentry line suffered one loss before withdrawing. As the New Republic task force approached the Chimaera, the Star Destroyer's Sector Four sentry line moved aside, reformed behind the Elomin task force, and initiated jamming of all transmissions.

The commanding officer of the Chimaera, the Chiss Grand Admiral Thrawn, had correctly identified the presence of an Elomin in command of the task force by observing the New Republic commander's engagement of the initial sentry line during the battle's opening stages. With this knowledge, Thrawn devised a counter-strategy specifically tailored to the opposing commander's weaknesses. Understanding that the Elomin mind was inherently logical and thus incapable of adapting to unstructured and unpredictable attack patterns, Thrawn deployed his starfighter squadrons in a straightforward Marg Sabl closure maneuver to disrupt the approaching attack. The Elomin commander, psychologically unable to effectively respond to this tactic, attempted a countermeasure, but without success. The Chimaera then entered the fray, and within an hour, the commander had been killed, and his entire task force was completely annihilated.
The Elomin task force commander received a mention in the 1991 publication Heir to the Empire, which was the debut novel in Timothy Zahn's series, The Thrawn Trilogy.
