This gantry officer, a male Human, was assigned to Docking Control Room 327 on the Death Star, working alongside Lieutenant Pol Treidum.
During 0 BBY, the officer and Treidum were on duty when Imperial forces captured the Millennium Falcon, a Corellian freighter, and brought it to dock in Docking Bay 327. A scanning crew was dispatched to examine the ship, and two stormtroopers, identified as TK-421 and TK-422, were ordered to guard it. While the officer was at his station, Treidum observed that the stormtroopers were missing from their posts. Treidum attempted to contact TK-421 via radio, but received no response. Looking through the viewport, he saw a trooper, actually Luke Skywalker in disguise, exiting the ship and claiming a faulty transmitter. Treidum acknowledged this and instructed the gantry officer to cover his duties as he moved towards the door. However, upon opening the door, Treidum was struck in the face and incapacitated by Chewbacca, a Wookiee. Reacting quickly, the officer rose and reached for his blaster, but Han Solo, also disguised as a stormtrooper, shot him.
Later, Atour Riten, a Death Star librarian, noticed the officer's dead body while monitoring the room via a security camera.
The gantry officer makes a brief appearance in the 1977 film Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope, with stuntman Malcolm Weaver playing the role.
