Unidentified grey horned species

This extraterrestrial race was characterized by grey skin, humanoid forms, muzzles, and cranial protrusions resembling horns that extended from the rear of their skulls. One individual from this species functioned as a scavenger in Mos Espa, trading in components salvaged from wrecked podracers. A contingent of other individuals belonging to this race acted as guards under the dominion of the Hutts within Mos Espa circa 32 BBY. While possessing physical strength, the species exhibited slowness, and its members displayed a tendency towards obedience when compensated for guarding duties.

Biology and appearance

The sentient species exhibited a humanoid anatomical structure, encompassing two arms, two legs, a singular head, and an erect stance. Their skin tone was grey and they were hairless, while their head was distinguished by a prominent muzzle, a pair of diminutive black eyes, a snub nose, and a lack of discernible external ears. In contrast to their formidable jaws, they possessed a comparatively small mouth containing pointed, needle-like teeth. Two textured cranial horns, reminiscent of the head cones observed in the Gotal species, projected from the back of their heads. Despite their towering stature, robust build, and considerable physical power, their substantial mass contributed to their sluggish movements.

Society and culture

Numerous members of this species demonstrated aggressive or intimidating behavior, often posing a threat to passersby. However, they proved to be compliant when financially motivated to safeguard possessions. In close-quarters combat, they employed weighty combat axes, and despite their lack of speed, they presented a formidable challenge to adversaries.

Behind the scenes

The grey-skinned, horned species made an appearance in the "Mos Espa" and "Mos Espa Arena" stages of the video game adaptation of Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace. Initially, the game developers intended to utilize Gamorreans, similar to those initially featured in Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi, to depict the guards patrolling Mos Espa's streets. However, they received communication from Skywalker Ranch, the workplace of Star Wars creator George Lucas, instructing them to remove the Gamorreans from the game, without providing an explanation. This led to the conceptualization of a novel alien species, designed by LucasArts artist Martin Yee.
