Here we see the Lieutenant in conversation with Hortu Agar within the cargo hold of the High Hauler.
This Lieutenant, a member of the Imperial forces, was in the service of the warlord Jerec. This occurred during the time that the Vengeance Battle Group had control over the planet Ruusan in 5 ABY. He took charge of an inspection of the High Hauler, a transport vessel that had made its way to the planet without presenting the required identification codes, while asserting that it was carrying a shipment of proton torpedoes.
While the Imperial Lieutenant was stationed aboard Jerec's flagship, the Vengeance, situated in the Hoth's Brand system, a transport materialized from hyperspace into the star system. He contacted the ship, demanding the appropriate authorization codes. However, the acting captain, an engineering officer who had assumed leadership following an attack by the Rebel Alliance, did not possess these codes. The crew were in fact New Republic agents whose purpose was to disrupt Jerec's activities on Ruusan.
Although the Imperials initially threatened the High Hauler with destruction, the mention of the proton torpedoes caused a reversal in their decision, as they were in dire need of the ordnance. A boarding party, led by the Lieutenant and accompanied by Stormtroopers, was dispatched to assess the ship's condition and secure the torpedoes. Unbeknownst to them, the torpedoes were faulty and would detonate within the launch tube if used.
Upon arriving at the High Hauler via an assault shuttle that docked in the bay, he encountered the acting captain, "Hortu Agar". Observing the ship's state, he was convinced by the captain's narrative of their ordeal, but emphasized that his group was engaged in a classified and restricted operation.
Over the subsequent 45 minutes, the Lieutenant and his Stormtroopers conducted inspections of the bridge, engineering section, and hull damage. Returning to the bay, the Lieutenant inquired about the HWK-290 light freighter. Satisfied with "Agar"'s explanations, and acknowledging the scarcity of resources within the Remnant, the Lieutenant prepared to inspect the torpedoes before their transfer. However, this task was bypassed when the "warrant officer" announced the arrival of a lighter for the transshipment process. Twelve load lifter droids were used to transfer the sabotaged torpedoes to the lighter, requiring three separate trips.
Prior to this, "Hortu Agar" requested permission to conduct necessary repairs on his ship and dispatch the Moldy Crow on several errands: the delivery of replacement parts, the procurement of food rations, and a fabricated training "mission". The Lieutenant authorized the ship's transponder signal with flight control on the Vengeance, which in turn allowed the two agents Kyle Katarn and Jan Ors to navigate through Ruusan's heavily fortified northern airspace.
Obota believed that, under different circumstances, he would have found the Lieutenant to be a likeable and amicable individual. The Lieutenant displayed empathy towards the Hauler's recounted experiences and expressed relief at their arrival, given their perceived hardships. This allowed Obota to deceive him. Even when recounting the acquisition of the Moldy Crow after losing a shuttle previously, the Lieutenant lamented the pervasive scarcity of resources.
The Lieutenant makes an appearance as an unnamed character within the novella Dark Forces: Jedi Knight. A condensed version of his dialogue with Obota is also present in the audio adaptation. Furthermore, there is a slight difference in timing; In the novella he notices the Crow shortly before leaving, but in the audio drama he notices it shortly before arriving.
Peter Moore is credited as "Officer" for his voice acting in the audio drama.
