Unidentified Mandalorian mercenary commander
This Mandalorian mercenary of unknown identity held the rank of commander and was male, active around 5.1 ABY. He, along with approximately six hundred other Mandalorians, was employed by the Galactic Empire to defend a planet located within an Inner Rim system, with strict instructions to prevent its capture by the New Republic. The Mandalorians took control of several trineutronium power facilities and issued a threat to detonate them should any New Republic ships initiate a landing, an action that would result in the sterilization of the entire planet and the death of three billion inhabitants.
Princess Leia Organa, accompanied by Han Solo, engaged in negotiations with the Mandalorian commander aboard an asteroid in an effort to secure their surrender. These discussions spanned two days without yielding any positive results, as the commander consistently refused any suggestion of surrender. The impasse was resolved when General Lando Calrissian, together with Mandalore Fenn Shysa, assumed control of the negotiation process, while Organa and Solo departed to assist Luke Skywalker in his campaign against Lord Shadowspawn. Calrissian informed the commander that the Mandalorians had been victorious, and the New Republic would adhere to their demands. However, he also pointed out that with the Imperials no longer present in the system, the Mandalorians would not receive payment for their services. Having weakened the commander's determination, Calrissian then proceeded to enlist the Mandalorians into his service and deployed them against Shadowspawn.
Biography
During the era of the Galactic Civil War, a male Mandalorian served as the head of a mercenary group consisting of roughly six hundred Mandalorian warriors. Around 5 ABY, this commander and his forces found themselves in the employ of the Galactic Empire, stationed on a planet within the Inner Rim region. As the New Republic advanced to seize the planet—a world abundant in mineral wealth and largely supportive of the Republic—the Imperial forces executed a hasty retreat. Prior to their departure, however, the Imperial commanders issued orders to the Mandalorians to deny the New Republic control of the planet at all costs. The Mandalorians subsequently seized control of the local trineutronium power generation facilities and threatened their detonation should New Republic vessels attempt to land, effectively holding the planet's population of three billion hostage. The New Republic then arranged a meeting on neutral ground, with Princess Leia Organa Solo representing the New Republic in these talks.
