Unidentified Resolute navigation officer (Battle of Ryloth)

A clone navigation officer served on the Republic Venator-class Star Destroyer known as the Resolute during the era of the Clone Wars. Back in 22 BBY, this Star Destroyer became part of a fleet led by Jedi General Anakin Skywalker alongside Admiral Wullf Yularen, who was the cruiser's deck officer. Their mission was to eliminate a Confederate blockade that had surrounded the planet of Ryloth. After the initial attempt by the Resolute to break through failed, the navigation officer consulted with Jedi Commander Ahsoka Tano and Clone Captain CT-7567 to come up with a new strategy for a second attack. During their discussion, the clone inadvertently revealed his lack of confidence in Tano and remained skeptical about her plan to use a dangerous Marg Sabl maneuver. Despite his reservations, Tano's strategy proved to be successful, ultimately paving the way for the Republic's invasion and liberation of Ryloth.

Biography

During the time of the Clone Wars, there was a clone trooper who held the position of naval officer within the Republic Navy. At some point, this particular clone navigation officer was assigned to serve on the Venator-class Star Destroyer known as the Resolute. In the year 22 BBY, the aforementioned officer was sent out with a Republic fleet consisting of three Venator-class Star Destroyers. This fleet was under the command of Jedi General Anakin Skywalker, along with his Padawan, Commander Ahsoka Tano, and Admiral Wullf Yularen, who served as the deck officer of the Resolute. Their objective was to eliminate the Confederate blockade that was surrounding the planet of Ryloth. Tano, who was in her first leadership role, took charge of a squadron of starfighters to engage the blockade. However, the arrival of Confederate reinforcements caused the Republic's attack to backfire. Confederate Vulture droids started performing suicide attacks on the Republic Star Destroyers, and Yularen sustained serious injuries. Upon returning to the fleet, Tano's unit had suffered near-total losses. The cruisers Resolute and Defender sustained damage and were forced to retreat, while the cruiser Redeemer was destroyed under heavy enemy fire.

After assessing the damage and providing medical care to the wounded, Skywalker came up with a plan to pilot the damaged Defender alone and crash it into the lead Confederate ship, thereby eliminating the blockade's commander and leaving the battle droids in control of the blockade. Once Skywalker had left, the clone navigation officer joined Tano and Clone Captain CT-7567, also known as "Rex," on the bridge of the Resolute, where they began working on a plan to destroy the remaining Confederate frigates in the blockade.

During the planning phase, the naval officer inadvertently expressed his doubts about Tano's capabilities, remarking that while Skywalker's strategy was daring, they usually relied on Skywalker's leadership, and that the Jedi General's command of the attack would have guaranteed its success. He apologized to Tano, clarifying that he did not intend to offend her. After Tano proposed a plan to angle the hull of the Resolute towards the blockade, which would allow starfighters to be launched and lure the Confederate frigates in using a classic Marg Sabl maneuver, the officer expressed his skepticism about the Jedi's plan, suggesting that more time and preparation were necessary for a successful attack. However, a revived Yularen supported Tano, and the Padawan was able to secure the defeat of the blockade, allowing Republic reinforcements to land on Ryloth and liberate the planet from Confederate control.

Personality and traits

The naval officer was unsure about Ahsoka Tano's abilities and accidentally voiced his concerns while strategizing a counterattack with Captain Rex and Tano, though he later apologized. The clone then suggested to Tano that she should take more time to devise a strategy, rather than pursuing a risky plan that would leave the Resolute vulnerable to attack. Being a clone of the Mandalorian bounty hunter Jango Fett, the naval officer had black hair, brown eyes, tan skin, and a height of 1.83 meters.

Behind the scenes

The naval officer, along with all the other clones featured in the Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated series, was voiced by Dee Bradley Baker, and the officer made his debut in the series' first season episode titled "Storm Over Ryloth" as an unnamed character. In that episode, he played a minor role, helping to highlight Ahsoka Tano's insecurities regarding her first command position.
