This species, which resembled a walking plant, possessed a tall stature and gray-toned skin. They featured short, thick legs, and noticeable heads complete with organs for sight. Han Solo commented that they appeared to be harmless. Despite possessing sentience, they were cultivated and harvested in a manner similar to plants.
Torkil Mux put them to work, having them mine precious stones for Jabba the Hutt. Han Solo and Chewbacca received the assignment to transport a consignment of both the plants and the soil in which they grew to Shinbone, the location of the mine. Unbeknownst to them, these were actually more members of the species, planted within the soil. Jabba later revealed that they represented the last of their kind. Mux exerted absolute dominion over them, utilizing K4 security droids to oversee their every action. Upon Solo and Chewbacca's arrival, they discovered Mux's scheme to defraud Jabba. They devised a strategy to relieve Mux of both his cache of gems and his workforce. Chewbacca proceeded to load them onto Mux's ship, while Solo created a diversion for the Arcona miner. With Chewbacca taking flight, Solo destroyed Mux's droid with a blaster before making his escape aboard the Millennium Falcon.
The two vessels rendezvoused in orbit. Chewbacca then entrusted the ship to the walking plants, suggesting that they relocate to his homeworld, Kashyyyk.
