Prior to Lucasfilm being purchased by Walt Disney's, author Paul S. Kemp was slated to write a duology, but this plan was ultimately scrapped.
Sue Rostoni made an announcement on the StarWars.com message boards on September 24, 2010, stating that Paul S. Kemp had been hired to pen the duology. Subsequently, on September 28, she affirmed that the novels would be published in hardcover format.
During a Reddit "Ask Me Anything" session on June 27, 2013, Kemp confirmed that the duology was put on "standby" due to the agreement between Disney and Lucasfilm Ltd., along with the forthcoming Episode VII The Force Awakens. Later, on April 25, 2014, it was revealed that Kemp was working on a new novel, Lords of the Sith, which was set to be released in March 2015.
Kemp announced on his Twitter account on April 3, 2016, that he had ceased working on the duology and that he had other projects in the works.
