Utility belt
Utility belts were commonly employed by individuals undertaking difficult missions or tasks. These specialized belts were designed to hold essential tools and gadgets, readily accessible through pouches or hooks. Constructed from diverse materials like leather and plastics, the composition of these belts varied according to their intended application. A utility pouch is a small bag designed to be worn with a utility belt, for the purpose of holding items.
Usage and design
Jedi Order members used leather utility belts provided by the Jedi High Council for their assignments. Typically assembled by the Jedi quartermaster, these belts included their lightsaber, traditionally positioned on the left side, along with capsule-form survival rations, a Hush-98 comlink, a fibercord grappling hook or a grappling spike launcher, a holoprojector like an Imagecaster, a holomap, an A99 aquata breather, a Jedi beacon transceiver, a glowrod, lightsaber maintenance tools, and other specialized gear. The High Council or Jedi quartermaster could add other mission-specific equipment. Leading up to his transformation into the Dark Lord of the Sith Darth Vader, Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker sported a dark-colored utility belt in those days.
For non-Jedi, utility belts commonly featured rope, a blaster in a holster, and other tools. Military utility belts, such as those used by clone troopers and Imperial stormtroopers, often had plastic or metal plating for enhanced protection of their contents. Their equipment typically included spare power and gas packs for blasters, ascension cables for climbing, and at least one energy rations meal. Furthermore, clone trooper belts could function as a thermal detonator or bomb, as demonstrated by sergeant Slick on Christophsis.
Luke Skywalker utilized a fibercord grappling hook taken from a stormtrooper's utility belt to help himself and Princess Leia Organa swing across a chasm on the Death Star.
In 8.5 ABY, an aged Tusken Raider utility belt was put up for sale in Mos Espa on Tatooine.
