The V-4 series represented a collection of ski speeders manufactured by Roche Machines, a Verpine vehicle producer. These vehicles were created in response to the popular trend of asteroid slalom during the Galactic Empire's reign. To maintain stability, they featured ventral mono-skis, and they also incorporated boom-mounted holocameras for capturing the actions of the pilot.
After the asteroid slalom fad diminished due to a live broadcast showing several slalom racers and their vehicles being consumed during the Orleon Belt Grand Slalom Finals, the production of these vehicles was halted, and the remaining units were sold at discounted prices. Among the models in this series was the V-4X-D ski speeder, which would later find use with both the Alliance to Restore the Republic and the Resistance.
