Vahl

Vahl represented the dark side of the Force's fiery and destructive nature, and was considered a goddess. The Ember of Vahl cult, composed mainly of Force-sensitive members of the Vahla species, revered her. Vahl was often depicted as a female Vahla possessing white hair and black eyes, and her followers exhibited fire-related abilities. Before the Ember of Vahl existed, Vahl was worshiped by their ancestors, but the Jedi Order eventually brought ruin to that society. Legend held that Vahl herself was originally a Vahla Force adept who guided her people in seizing power over their homeworld.

Description

Vahl was worshiped by the Ember of Vahl cult, who were predominantly members of the Vahla species (a Vahla Ember of Vahl cultist pictured).

The Ember of Vahl cult venerated Vahl as a deity. She was the embodiment of the dark side of the Force's fiery devastation. Believers in their goddess could demonstrate abilities like entering a meditative state by staring into flames, resisting fire and heat, and charging their weapons with Vahl's sparks and flames. The deity was typically shown as a mature female Vahla—a member of a nomadic, Force-sensitive species that was near-Human and inherently influenced by the dark side of the Force. These depictions commonly portrayed the goddess with flowing ash-white hair and glowing black eyes.

Vahla were the primary members of the Ember of Vahl. Their faith led them to favor simple weapons over advanced technology, sacrifice captured individuals to their goddess, and regard Vahla born with red hair as blessed by Vahl. The Chosen of Vahl, a coven of six priests, led the cult. They were considered the deity's true followers and displayed their devotion through self-inflicted scars. The Chosen of Vahl used farseeing to communicate with their goddess.

History

Before the Ember of Vahl, the ancestors of the cult were depraved individuals devoted to Vahl, indulging in dark side-fueled destructive behaviors. However, several millennia before 137 ABY, the Jedi Order's Force-sensitive members, who followed the light side of the Force, annihilated Vahl's worshipers. The descendants of that society became interstellar nomads, endlessly seeking their lost homeworld. It was believed that Vahl herself had been a powerful Vahla Force adept who led her people to take control of their homeworld before the Jedi destroyed them.
