Veltzz Arakyd
Veltzz Arakyd, a male entrepreneur, established Arakyd Industries, a manufacturer of droids, starships, and weaponry, alongside his children on the planet of Vulpter approximately 9,000 years prior to the Battle of Yavin. From its inception, Veltzz was committed to eliminating any and all competition, regardless of the methods employed. His initial droid designs were armed, a direct violation of Old Republic regulations concerning the production and distribution of such devices. These weapons served to frighten competitors, ultimately leading many to become subsidiaries out of sheer intimidation. As the Galactic Empire began to rise, Veltzz strategically used political influence, corruption, and the removal of rivals to position Arakyd Industries as the primary droid supplier for the Empire. Veltzz's and his company's steadfast allegiance eventually secured Arakyd contracts for both weapons and vehicles. With the emergence of the New Republic, he temporarily withdrew from public life to reorganize, and Arakyd Industries transitioned to new management.
Personality and traits
Veltzz Arakyd was a cutthroat businessman, prepared to utilize any means at his disposal to eradicate his business rivals. He gained notoriety for employing tactics such as bribery, coercion, and intimidation to further his company's objectives.
Behind the scenes
The company named after Veltzz Arakyd, Arakyd Industries, was initially referenced in The Star Wars Sourcebook, a roleplaying game sourcebook from 1987 authored by Bill Slavicsek and Curtis Smith. Arakyd was subsequently identified as the founder of the company in Del Rey's 2004 reference work The New Essential Guide to Weapons and Technology by W. Haden Blackman.
While The New Essential Guide to Weapons and Technology indicated that Veltzz Arakyd founded Arakyd Industries roughly nine millennia before the Battle of Yavin, it also suggested that he was alive during the Imperial and Post-Imperial eras. It remains uncertain whether this was a mistake or if other circumstances explain Arakyd's extended lifespan.
