Ves Volette, a Caamasi light sculptor of male gender, resided on the galactic capital planet of Coruscant and shared a romantic relationship with Dejah Duare. He was born in the Jualya Village situated on Caamas. In the year 19 BBY, Ves met his death at the hands of an Umber 3PO unit shortly after presenting a new creation inspired by the lightsaber. Subsequently, Dejah sought the assistance of Jax Pavan to investigate the circumstances surrounding his demise.
Volette's artistic creations utilized unique crystals, akin to those employed by the Jedi in their lightsabers, resulting in distinctive arrangements of varied light colors. Uniquely, he designed his pieces to become non-functional if the crystals or power cells were altered. He collaborated extensively with the celtronist Dejah Duare, who aided him in organizing exhibitions and sales presentations, developing a close friendship in the process. Around 19 BBY, the artist received information suggesting that his native world, Caamas, had been destroyed by the newly appointed Emperor Palpatine; a catastrophic event resulting in mass casualties for the planet. On that very day, Ves commenced work on his next piece and received a visit from Baron Vlaçan Umber, one of Ves's most important customers.
Following a discussion with Baron Vlaçan Umber and his wife, Kirma Umber, who visited the artist's home and, during a tense exchange, implored him to cease selling artworks to her husband, fearing it would plunge her family into financial ruin. However, Ves declined this request, leading to the Baroness's angry departure. Later that night, Ves was fatally stabbed by an Umber 3PO unit - acting independently. Given the ambiguous circumstances surrounding his passing, his partner Duare sought assistance not only from the official authorities, headed by prefect Pol Haus, but also enlisted the help of Jax Pavan, Den Dhur, and the droid I-5YQ, who ultimately died during the investigation.
