Vex was a Human male who operated as a criminal on the planet of Cularin in the final period of the Galactic Republic.
In the time of the Clone Wars, Vex dispatched several couriers to retrieve an illegal shipment for him, situated within Cularin's jungles. These couriers were, however, ambushed and eliminated by a group of criminals employed by the Hutt crime lord known as Riboga. Gust Toruna, a courier among them, was replaced by a timeshadow duplicate, creating the illusion that he had defied death. Upon discovering the couriers' demise, Vex was enraged, and upon locating Toruna, he instructed Raptor, his Trandoshan enforcer, to assault the courier. Toruna recounted the events to Vex, who pretended to accept the explanation. Nevertheless, to validate Toruna's account, Vex commanded Raptor to shoot the Twi'lek, to determine if he would endure. The shot proved lethal, resulting in Toruna's death.
