Vghand held the rank of officer in the Galactic Empire's Imperial Navy during the era of the Galactic Civil War. At approximately the same time as the Battle of Yavin, Vghand found himself posted to the Dantooine system, where his duties included probing the activities of a local criminal syndicate known as the Zel'iphian Slave Traders Guild. Despite the Zel'iphian's reputation as infamous slavers, they refuted all accusations of engaging in the slave trade. Given that slavery was officially outlawed within the Empire, Vghand's objective was to gather conclusive evidence demonstrating the Guild's active involvement in the trafficking of slaves.
The character of Vghand received a mention in Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided, a video game from 2003. This game was a massively multiplayer online roleplaying game created by Sony Online Entertainment and brought to the public by LucasArts, before its servers were shut down on December 15, 2011. The in-game document referencing Vghand was incorporated into the game with the launch of the expansion pack titled Jump to Lightspeed on October 27, 2004.
