The viewspider existed as a creature of the Yuuzhan Vong, originating either from their home galaxy or crafted through bioengineering by their shapers. These creatures, characterized by red, luminous eyes, developed on tentacle-like vines. The Yuuzhan Vong mainly exploited them for their capability to generate real-time visual recordings of particular locations. Jacen Solo came across viewspiders inside the dhuryam vessel transporting him to Yuuzhan'tar, and once more as he explored that world subsequent to his escape from captivity.
