Void Spider TX-3 Air Taxi

The Void Spider TX-3 Air Taxi, alternatively known as Void Spider THX 1138, represented a type of enclosed airspeeder crafted by Bespin Motors, specifically categorized as an air taxi. Measuring 7.6 meters in length, it incorporated eight engines, strategically positioned at the base of its eight legs. When grounded, these legs provided support to the speeder, while in flight, each leg could operate as an independent engine.

A Void Spider was present within the urban landscape of Mos Eisley at the time of arrival of Luke Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Skywalker's droids, an event that occurred shortly before the Battle of Yavin.

Behind the scenes

This particular vehicle made an appearance in the Mos Eisley scenes of Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope. Furthermore, the prop's schematics were included in the Star Wars Blueprints collections from 1977. Within these blueprints, it was identified as "The Void-Spider Land-Speeder TX-3."

Mission to Lianna characterizes the Void Spider TX-3 as a landspeeder, specifying a maximum operational altitude of merely one meter. The Star Wars Sourcebook identifies it as a notably favored landspeeders (as opposed to airspeeder), without offering additional specifics.
