The Wardens of the Sky were a Force-wielding group that roamed throughout the galaxy, ensuring the security of the spacelanes.
The Wardens felt obligated to utilize their understanding of space and the Force to guarantee the safety of spacelanes for all travelers. They maintained that everyone possessed the entitlement to journey through space, leading them to confront entities like pirates or assist smugglers, whom they perceived as rebelling against the spacelanes' oppressors. Lacking a centralized command structure, each Warden operated independently, safeguarding spacelanes and assisting space travelers in need. Occasionally, Wardens encountered other Force-sensitive individuals and, if they recognized potential, extended offers to mentor these Force users as apprentices. Upon completing their apprenticeship, the student would venture out to patrol the spacelanes solo.
Wardens employed subtle tactics, never openly declaring their true affiliation. They only resorted to overt actions when absolutely necessary. They moved inconspicuously amidst the crowds of the galaxy's spaceports, blending in as ordinary space travelers. Indeed, many Wardens were exactly that. It was typical for Wardens to find employment on starships as either pilots or navigators, providing them with opportunities to patrol specific areas of space while appearing as regular crew members.
Considering the use of blasters onboard starships to be hazardous, the Wardens became experts in unarmed combat. They pioneered a distinctive fighting style that integrated Force abilities with martial arts techniques.
During the era of the Great Hyperspace War between the Sith Empire and the Galactic Republic, the Hyperspace Navigator's Guild, previously in charge of spacelane surveillance, lost credibility. A Force-attuned hyperspace explorer then started to patrol the spacelanes, endeavoring to thwart anyone obstructing interstellar travel for ordinary citizens. Eventually, he located and trained other Force-sensitive individuals, who then became the original Wardens of the Sky.
As time passed, the Wardens faded into legend, recounted in cantinas by space pilots. This obscurity aided them in avoiding detection by both the Sith and, subsequently, the Galactic Empire.
