Wertsnik was a male Trandoshan warrior and a member of the adventuring group led by Mynnic circa 32 BBY. He had fought in many conflicts, making him a seasoned veteran.

Following the Battle of Yavin, Wertsnik found himself on Dathomir when an incident occurred at the Imperial Research and Prison Facility. Wertsnik was infected with the Blackwing virus, which transformed him into an undead being. The virus controlled his undead form, causing it to wander the Quarantine Zone until a spacer destroyed it.
Wertsnik appeared as a non-player character within the 2003 video game Star Wars Galaxies, a massively multiplayer online roleplaying game that was created by Sony Online Entertainment and distributed by LucasArts, before it was shut down on December 15, 2011. Wertsnik was integrated into the game via "Game Update 14," which was launched on October 12, 2009. He was one of the Undead boss enemies present in the Quarantine Zone that players needed to defeat in order to finish a collection.
