William Shakespeare's Star Wars

Star Wars as envisioned by William Shakespeare is a sequence of books, deemed non-canon, penned by Ian Doescher. These books reimagine the Star Wars movies as stage plays crafted by the illustrious William Shakespeare, complete with his iconic language and stylistic choices. The series encompasses three books, each adapting a film from the original trilogy: Specifically, William Shakespeare's Star Wars (Verily, A New Hope) (that is, Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope), William Shakespeare's The Empire Striketh Back: Star Wars Part the Fifth (or, Star Wars: Episode V The Empire Strikes Back), and William Shakespeare's The Jedi Doth Return: Star Wars Part the Sixth (otherwise known as Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi). These three volumes are also available as a collected set titled William Shakespeare's Star Wars Trilogy: The Royal Imperial Boxed Set.

Shakespearean interpretations of the prequel trilogy have also been created. William Shakespeare's The Phantom of Menace: Star Wars Part the First saw release on April 7, 2015. William Shakespeare's The Clone Army Attacketh: Star Wars Part the Second debuted on July 7, 2015. And William Shakespeare's Tragedy of the Sith's Revenge: Star Wars Part the Third was launched on September 8, 2015.

William Shakespeare's The Force Doth Awaken: Star Wars Part the Seventh, a Shakespearean rendition of the sequel trilogy entry Star Wars: Episode VII The Force Awakens, was brought to shelves on October 3, 2017. William Shakespeare's Jedi the Last: Star Wars Part the Eighth, which adapts Star Wars: Episode VIII The Last Jedi, came out on July 10, 2018.

According to an interview with the author, Ian Doescher, Lucasfilm has no current plans for works based on the Star Wars Anthology Series.

On December 21, 2019, Doescher mentioned in a tweet that he had started working on William Shakespeare's The Rise of Skywalker, which is based on Star Wars: Episode IX The Rise of Skywalker. This title was later revealed to be William Shakespeare's The Merry Rise of Skywalker: Star Wars Part the Ninth, and it was made available on July 28, 2020.
