Wookieepedia:Discord

The Discord server dedicated to Wookieepedia serves as a hub for Wookieepedians to connect and collaborate. It provides a space for community discussions about the wiki and casual Star Wars conversations. Whether you're a current Wookieepedian, aspiring to become one, or simply want to engage with our community, you're welcome to join our Discord server!

The Wookieepedia administration is responsible for the server's structure and role assignments, while Consensus track community votes determine access levels and rules for servers and channels. These responsibilities allow the administration to effectively manage the server.

How to join

You have the option to access Discord through their website or by downloading the Discord client to your device. To become a member of the Wookieepedia server, simply click this link.

Getting verified

To gain verified status, you must possess a registered Fandom account, which an administrator or the Wiki-Bot can verify. Unverified users may be removed from the server due to inactivity, but they are always welcome to rejoin.

Upon verification, you'll receive the "Verified" role, and your Discord nickname will be updated to match your Fandom account name. If you have made at least 50 edits or 200 posts, you'll also be granted the "Wookieepedians" role, granting you full access to the server. If you don't meet these requirements initially, you can repeat the verification steps once you do.

Server structure

The Wookieepedia Discord server is organized into five categories, each with different access levels based on server roles:

Info/tools channels

Discussion channels

Help channels

Private consultation channels

WookieeNights channels

Project channels

Roles

Users on the Discord server are assigned roles that correspond to their positions on the site. All users have the option to choose pronoun roles, and users with the "Wookieepedians" role can select WookieeProject roles to access the relevant WookieeProject channel. The username color is determined by the user's highest role on the list.

Administrators manage bots, which are automated or semi-automated processes that maintain the server, and their usernames are gray. Please seek permission from the administration before introducing additional bots to the server.

Rules

User conduct

Adherence to Discord's Terms of Service is mandatory at all times.

Moderation

Wookieepedia administrators have broad permissions for channel and role management, including the ability to kick and ban users. Bureaucrats have full Discord server permissions during their tenure, including access to and management of all private channels, but consultation channels are deleted when archived. No administrator can alter another administrator's access permissions without the support of a majority of the Wookieepedia administration. Discussions moderators also have the ability to kick and ban users.

A bot automatically logs recent message deletions and edits in an audit log accessible only to administrators. This log is used to address policy violations where users attempt to conceal their actions by modifying messages. Administrators should only delete messages containing inappropriate content, sensitive information, or spoilers outside designated spoiler channels, as per the Spoiler policy. Messages in request channels, such as those for bot requests and verification, may also be deleted.

Administrators may issue formal warnings for violations of server rules. For severe or repeated violations, the offending user may be kicked or banned from the server, either temporarily or permanently. In extreme instances, administrators may also block the user on the Wookieepedia site, following the Blocking policy.

Chat logs and media

Consistent with Wookieepedia's privacy policy, which prohibits disclosing another person's personal information without their explicit and public consent, users are expected to follow the rules below when publicly sharing chat logs and media from the Wookieepedia Discord server.

Chat logs and media from public Wookieepedia Discord channels (i.e., all channels listed under the Server structure section above) are considered public record and can be freely shared on the wiki. They may also be shared privately with other Wookieepedians.

Public dissemination of chat logs and media from public Wookieepedia Discord channels on other public websites—such as social media and forums—is only permitted if the identity (including username and profile picture) and affiliation (including role) of the speaker(s) involved are not revealed, unless each individual gives express consent for the specific site(s).

Chat logs and media from private Wookieepedia Discord channels may not be publicly shared in any way without the express consent of all parties involved in the log's discussion(s). Similarly, Direct Messages on Discord involving Wookieepedia users may not be publicly shared without the express consent of all parties involved.

These privacy protections do not extend to unregistered users, users banned from Wookieepedia, or users who have not edited Wookieepedia in more than five (5) years. These protections also do not prevent individuals from privately sharing chat logs and media with Wookieepedia's administrators to report behavior that violates site policies.

WookieeNights

WookieeNights serve various purposes, including watch parties, collaborative editing sessions, Q&A events, and informal gatherings for Wookieepedians to connect. Participants can communicate in the text channel and, if they wish, the voice channel. The WookieeNights page provides details regarding scheduling and rules.
