Wookieepedia:Discord
The Discord server for Wookieepedia is here to encourage communication and teamwork among Wookieepedians. It serves as a place for the community to talk about site-related topics and also as a general Star Wars chat area. If you're a Wookieepedian, want to become one, or just want to chat, come and join our Discord server!
The Wookieepedia administration is responsible for managing the server, so they can change the server structure and role tables shown below. However, the community votes on server and channel access levels and rules using the Consensus track.
How to join
You can use Discord's website or download the Discord client to your device. To join Wookieepedia's server, click this link.
Getting verified
To get verified by an administrator or the Wiki-Bot, you need a registered Fandom account. If unverified users are inactive for a while, they might be removed from the server, but they can always rejoin.
Once you're verified, you'll get the "Verified" role, and your Discord server nickname will be changed to match your Fandom account name. If you have at least 50 edits or 200 posts, you'll also get the "Wookieepedians" role and access to the rest of the server. If you don't meet these requirements, you can just repeat the verification steps once you do.
Server structure
Wookieepedia's Discord server has five categories, each with different access levels depending on the server roles:
Info/tools channels
Discussion channels
Help channels
Private consultation channels
WookieeNights channels
Project channels
Roles
Depending on their positions on the site, users can be assigned different roles on the Discord server. All users can choose pronoun roles if they want, and users with the "Wookieepedians" role can choose WookieeProject roles to access the relevant WookieeProject channel. The username color is determined by the highest role on this list.
Administrators manage bots, which are automated or semi-automated processes that help maintain the server. Bots have gray usernames. Please ask the administration for permission before adding any new bots to the server.
Rules
User conduct
You must follow Discord's Terms of Service at all times.
Moderation
Wookieepedia administrators have the power to manage channels and roles, and they can kick and ban users. Bureaucrats have full Discord server permissions during their term, including access to and management of all private channels, but consultation channels will be deleted when archived. Without a majority vote from the Wookieepedia administration, no administrator can change another administrator's access permissions, either temporarily or permanently. Discussions moderators also have the ability to kick and ban users.
To help enforce the rules, a bot automatically records deletions and edits of recent messages in an audit log that only administrators can see and use. Administrators should only delete messages that contain inappropriate content, sensitive information, or spoilers outside the designated spoiler channels, as stated in the Spoiler policy. Messages in channels for requests, like bot requests and verification, can also be deleted.
Administrators can issue formal warnings for breaking the server rules. If the violation is serious or continuous, the user should be kicked or banned from the server, either temporarily or permanently. In extreme cases, administrators can also block the user on the Wookieepedia site, following the Blocking policy.
Chat logs and media
As with Wookieepedia's privacy policy, which prohibits sharing someone else's personal information without their explicit and public consent, all users must follow the rules below when sharing chat logs and any media from the Wookieepedia Discord server.
Chat logs and media from public Wookieepedia Discord channels (all channels listed under the Server structure section) are considered public record and can be shared freely on the wiki. They can also be shared privately with other Wookieepedians.
Public sharing of chat logs and media from public Wookieepedia Discord channels on other public websites (like social media and forums) is only allowed if the identity (username and profile picture) and affiliation (role) of the speaker(s) are not revealed, unless each person gives explicit consent for the specific site(s).
Chat logs and media from private Wookieepedia Discord channels cannot be shared publicly in any way without the express consent of everyone involved in the discussion(s). Similarly, Direct Messages on Discord involving Wookieepedia users cannot be shared publicly without the express consent of all parties involved.
These privacy protections do not apply to unregistered users, users banned from Wookieepedia, or users who haven't edited Wookieepedia in over five (5) years. They also don't prevent individuals from privately sharing chat logs and media with Wookieepedia's administrators to report policy violations.
WookieeNights
WookieeNights can be used for many things, such as watch parties, collaborative editing sessions, Q&A events, and casual hangouts where Wookieepedians can get to know each other better. Users can chat in the text channel and, if they want, in the voice channel as well. The WookieeNights page has information about the schedule and rules of WookieeNights.
