Wraid

Wraids were sizable reptilian beings inhabiting numerous desert planets throughout the galaxy. These planets included, but were not limited to, Tatooine, Ruhnuk, Korriban and Tython.

Characteristics

A Tatooine wraid.

Possessing a pinkish-red coloration, wraids were equipped with exceptionally strong front limbs. These limbs facilitated rapid locomotion through extended, bounding strides when the creatures were agitated. Large claws adorned their feet, and sharp teeth filled their mouths, rendering them perilous to those who were incautious. In addition to their front legs, they also had two smaller rear legs.

Wraids were frequently observed in groups ranging from two to six individuals. Typically, they refrained from causing harm to those passing by, unless provoked; at that point, their potential for danger became immediately clear. A wraid could rapidly traverse substantial distances using a bounding sprint.

Despite their intimidating appearance and propensity for irritation, wraids were a favored target for less experienced big game hunters from across the galaxy, owing to the easily identifiable tracks left by their massive forelegs. Following the establishment of the Anchorhead settlement, wraid hunting evolved into a viable commercial activity, marked by the emergence of hunting lodges and vendors specializing in wraid skull plates acquired from hunters.

Their skull plates were believed to possess medicinal properties, although the demand for them was quite specialized. The hide of wraids, known as wraidskin, had applications in the creation of armor, such as Cerean wraidskin chestguards, Huttese wraidskin chestguards, Echani wraidskin chestguard, and Huttese wraidskin wristguards.
