Wyvarl

Wyvarls were reptilian creatures native to a planet located within the Maw. This planet served as the location where the dark side being known as Abeloth was imprisoned for countless millennia, specifically until 44 ABY. These reptile were characterized as sizable, two-legged lizards, identifiable by their wide green backs, substantial tails, and a singular blue eye. When these lizards went to sleep, a nictitating membrane would cover their eye. Wyvarls existed in groups, and if there was danger, a wyvarl would use its tail to drum against the ground to warn others to stay away.

During the events of 44 ABY, Luke Skywalker encountered a female wyvarl ensnared within a drop-bramble, a plant distinguished by its poisonous thorns. Skywalker employed the Force to induce sleep in the wyvarl, subsequently ending its suffering with a shot from his blaster.
