X-2 was a male Human assassin. He, along with a group of six other men, was recruited for Project Omega. This project, initiated by the Galactic Empire, aimed to engineer the ultimate assassin. Commander Rezi Soresh supervised the project, erasing the identities of all participants from a database system and ordering surgical alterations to their faces. Subsequently, Soresh initiated a reconditioning process, intended to transform them into emotionless, obedient servants by erasing their memories and feelings.
Initially, X-2 formed bonds of friendship with the other trainees: X-1, X-3, X-4, X-5, X-6, and X-7. However, following the commencement of torturing via electrocution by Soresh, X-2, similar to his fellow participants, underwent a total transformation of his personality and mind, losing the capacity to experience emotions. In approximately 10 BBY, the participants were forced into combat against each other, with the goal of determining a single survivor. X-2 experienced a malfunction and attempted to flee, but he was ultimately killed by X-7, who then secured the position of Soresh's personal assassin.
X-2's character was presented in a flashback scene within Rebel Force: Target. This book was the debut novel in the Star Wars: Rebel Force series for young readers, released in 2008 and authored by Alex Wheeler.
