Xexus Shev, holding the rank of Colonel, was an officer within the Imperial forces. After Palpatine's rebirth and subsequent death, he pledged his allegiance to Carnor Jax and the Imperial Interim Ruling Council.
Shev never had any fondness for the Empire. However, after committing a minor offense, he faced a choice: imprisonment in the spice mines of Kessel, or enrollment in the Imperial Academy. He opted for the latter.
Despite his proficiency in following protocol, Shev lacked both discipline and a positive attitude. Consequently, he was assigned to command a garrison stationed on the isolated planet of Phaeda. Deeply corrupt, he established a black market enterprise on Phaeda, frequently overlooking illicit activities in exchange for bribes, allowing him to live comfortably.
Upon discovering that Kir Kanos, whom Carnor Jax sought as a traitor, had arrived on Phaeda to evade the Imperials, Shev eagerly seized the opportunity to gain favor with Jax by capturing Kanos. However, after informing General Redd Wessel about Kanos' presence on Phaeda, Shev received orders to refrain from taking any action against the former Imperial Royal Guardsman, to avoid jeopardizing Kanos' capture.
Regardless, when Tem Merkon informed Shev that Kanos was aligned with the Rebel faction that had entrenched itself on Phaeda, Shev disregarded Jax's order to stand down and deployed his entire army against the Rebels. Initially, the battle favored Shev, until Kanos intervened and, single-handedly, repelled Shev's forces.
Some time thereafter, Shev encountered Carnor Jax as he disembarked from his shuttle, accompanied by General Wessel and Lieutenant Blim. Shev's attempts to explain his actions proved futile, and Jax relieved the colonel of his command.
The character of Colonel Shev was voiced by Gary Groomes in the audio drama version of Crimson Empire.
