XQ1 Platform

XQ1 stations were constructed from a primary, sizable central hub module, accompanied by three substantial docking ports extending outward from the core. Although some were employed for military applications, numerous others underwent modifications to fulfill a range of diverse objectives. The station's defensive weaponry varied depending on its intended purpose. In general, each XQ1 was equipped with six laser cannons along with six turbolaser batteries for self-defense. While this armament wasn't particularly formidable, it provided sufficient firepower to eliminate any starfighter and withstand attacks from vessels as large as corvettes.

The platform's applications were diverse. The Galactic Empire utilized it to broaden its influence throughout distant star systems. Numerous corporations employed it in commercial activities and scientific investigations.

The XQ1 design, initially introduced fewer than five years prior to the commencement of the Galactic Civil War, was manufactured in substantial quantities by Bengel Shipbuilders owing to its rapid construction timeline (spanning only a few weeks) and its versatile functionality. It was initially conceived for deployment at Ord Thoden until the Corporate Sector Authority acquired a significant number of the stations.

Numerous stations were operated as basic stations and outposts by various entities. The Galactic Empire, Rebel Alliance, Corporate Sector Authority, and a variety of commercial enterprises utilized the platforms for purposes such as research and development, command centers, and customs checkpoints. This varied usage made it a favored option for a lightweight space installation. The Galactic Empire employed these stations as command centers to expand Imperial dominance in the Outer Rim Territories and far-flung star systems.
