History

Originally designed for mining operations, the limpet ship could adhere to planetary or asteroid surfaces. It then utilized plasma beam cutters to extract valuable materials from beneath the rocky exterior. The Rebel Alliance conceived a novel application: using these ships to infiltrate and board enemy spacecraft. While typically used against freighters and supply depots, sometimes military ships were also targeted.

Their initial deployment occurred during the battle of Per Lupelo. Subsequently, Luke Skywalker employed one to liberate his comrade, Janek Sunber, from Imperial captivity.

Furthermore, they facilitated the insertion of Alliance Special Forces SpaceOps units onto hostile vessels.
